We discovered this deck of Naval Training cards at a garage sale last Friday, much to our delight. It’s a deck of illustrated cards with each card signifying what plants are edible or poisonous in our area. We skipped that Asian and African versions. The back of the cards explain what part of the plant to eat and how to prepare it. Poisonous plant cards have red text and edible plant cards have black text. I thought it would be a great addition to our guides by the front door. I’m going to focus on the edible plants. I don’t think it’s a good idea to teach the boys to look for poisonous ones. But, as we progress, perhaps we’ll identify those later.
I also would like to gather the real plants and do a Montessori match up. With so much blooming around here, I feel the options are endless these days.
